In-Person Roundtable - Transgender People and the Law
In 2018, the Connecticut Bar Foundation James W. Cooper Fellows presented a Roundtable on “Transgender People and the Law.” Since then, much has changed for the transgender community, with many members facing increasing vilification, repression, and persecution. Across the country, laws are being enacted that make life more difficult for transgender individuals, particularly by restricting access to health care and gender-affirming services.
This Roundtable will build upon the 2018 discussion, focusing on the realities transgender individuals and their families face today. We’ll examine their fears, hopes, and the ongoing struggles they encounter, particularly when navigating legal systems that are meant to offer protection.
Join us for an evening of dialogue, where we will listen to and discuss the journeys of transgender individuals, the challenges and victories they encounter, and explore how we can support their access to justice and a better quality of life.
This event is a Fellows-only program with limited capacity. Please call the Foundation at 860.722.2494 if you have any questions or would like to register.
